    More swap car issues...

I slow shifted to 2nd and then got on it and hit 4500 and the car just started to studder like it hit some sort of weak rev limiter. Moments before I had just down shifted to 2nd and put the car into nuetral to stop at a light and the car stalled out when I pushed in the clutch. CEL isn't wired up so I dont know if its throwing any codes.

Thoughts that came to my head- cat clogged? I have a feeling there is a lot more then one thing in play here. I was thinking I was buying a great car but it's turned into a nightmare.

Damn Jeff, sucks that this car has turned out to be a bunch of trouble. Was the swap just done that badly? I guess try the code reader and see whats up. Vacuum leak maybe?

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Soo how about bypassing all of the speculation and just using the DME's on board diagnostics? Your CEL isn't hooked up and you are freaking out about what could be some small issue. Use the tools provided then post. Good luck!

I don't have a code reader so I will have to take it up to a local shop and have it done. I didnt say it wouldn't be an easy fix but if you have read my previous posts you would have noticed that the car has a lot of problems that I have been fixing.

BTW, freaking out, maybe a little bit because I pretty much got ripped off when I bought this car and I am feeling that to the full effect now.

I will just go ahead and wire up the CEL light and go from there - http://www.e30m50.com/E30/projects/cel.htm

Sure, you might have overpaid a little, but I'm sure things will work out fine. Just get under the hood and kick the car's ass!

Does the car even have a cat? I bet it's a dying fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter (I would hope that the guy who did the swap changed this out!). Sure, there's no use for idle conjecture, but it helps to feel like you're not alone out there, even if 35 people tell you, check the blinker fluid.

Man, that's unhelpful even by r3vlimited standards.

I definitely suggest hooking up your CEL.

Do you have any swap vets in your area? A lot of times someone with a little more experience can take one look at a car and figure out what's wrong in a snap.

PS, I will be spending some time in VA around Christmas. If you want to meet up, I can give you a little bit of a hand. :) Suffolk area mostly, but I get around.

Hey Matt, Suffolk is only two cities over.. We should def get together.

Tdot- Your right some people aren't cut out for cars. Maybe I appear as someone like that but I've probably done a hell of alot more to e30s then you have!

What I should have done though was research s5x swaps a lot more before I bought this car, I am much more familiar with turbo m20s.

BTW, If your joking I suck at picking up on sarcasm.

                            thanks for the support guys.

It doesn't help that I moved out from my parents house and don't have a garage anymore.

I am going to get it dynoed to see if I noticed anything strange.

After I get all this bs sorted I will get this thing lowered. It kills me everytime I look at it :)
