    FYI on engine/trans mounts...

With the Green 535i mounts, with the outside edges cut-off and 1/4" spacers, the Ireland Engineering yellow urethane trans mounts are a perfect fit.

I used the 1/4" spacers to give more room for the booster.

    Hahaha you're funnay .

Using 1/4" spacers makes them NOT a perfect fit . ;)

Sorry to be the bearer of the news, but they are a perfect fit on my 88 325i. If I didn't use the spacers the 320 booster would hit the intake. This is not what I read about in the swap thread.

After reading a number of the posts on the M5X swaps, I'm beginning to think the chassis dimensions are not all the same.

Reading where someone had no problems with the mounts and others had same mounts different year car and they needed mods to fit leads me to believe the differences are enough that can't be explained by manufacturing tolerances.

Just as there are 2 different shock tower widths, I think the chassis are different enough to cause some problems with the install.

I agree with bwh. I used green 535i mounts (CRP), 320i booster, S50, E21 mounts, NO shims, and there's plenty of room for the booster to clear on an 89 325i. On another swap, 91 318is, I used 535i hexagonal mounts (this time made by Meyle), 944 booster, M50, E21 mounts, but I had to add spacers on BOTH sides to get the manifold to clear the booster.

There's gotta be a difference, or maybe the Meyle mounts squashed down more, or something.

My shit fit with no spacers. I added a spacer so the headers would clear the subframe though.

Yeah same, ill probably ditch the very small spacers i have when i have a new exhaust set up. :)

Thats with the black round e24 mounts and e21 tranny mounts, btw.

I'm running the e28 535 IE urethanes w/out any spacers on my 318is.

same here no spacers and i installed it with both. 1/4 on the drivers side gave me gobs of room on the intake mani, so i took all the spacers out and the motor sits perfectly level . and i still have a good but of room, enough so that i was able to change my lower heater hose last night. WHAT A BITCH THAT WAS!!!!

                  i thought i already had posted....guess not.

i originally had them with no spacers and no shaved fins on the m50 manifold and it cleared the 735MC with little clearance but acceptable nonetheless. after i installed the ebay headers i added a very thin (maybe 1/16in) fabbed Al spacer on the passenger side just so that the downpipes would acceptably clear the subframe to avoid vibrations in the future or with the weight of the exhaust, bumps etc etc etc.

I have the 535i Green mounts with IE yellow trans mounts. I added 1/8th spacers on both sides to clear the 320i booster, but it looks like the mounts have settled and now the fins on intake manifold are touching the booster. I might have to use a 1/4" one on drivers side.

The Ebay headers have 2-3 inches of clearance to the subframe, only the engine arm is very close.

I'll have to measure the shock tower span and see which one it is. That dimension will probably be the way to tell which chassis would need the spacers etc.

^^ 1/4" seems like way too much though. i'm sure a 1/16", maybe 1/8" would do it, you don't want to move everything too much you know...

now, i guess my ebay headers were terribly manufactured, 1 O2 sensor touches the rear header, who's O2 sensor touches the firewall and w.o a small spacer on that side, the front downpipe was 1/2mm away from the subframe and w/o the engine mount heatshield removed, it would rub against that....

i'm sure as hell not uninstalling them, that was such a pita
                      No more e30s for me.

Current 1/8" on drivers side is allowing fins on intake to touch booster. I might leave it for now and check it once I get some miles on the swap.

I just checked the header clearance on the subframe and I was wrong about the clearance; it has just enough to miss with the 1/8" spacer. Didn't look at the right spot where the header tube goes past...
