    Radiator with integrated overflow tank

I like the idea of the clean installation provided by the M42 radiator with the integrated tank. From what I've read though, I get the feeling that it may be somewhat marginal in capacity for the S52.

Has anyone used or investigated the radiator listed for the E34 525 (M50). This radiator (RMEuropean PN 17-11-1-469-177 BEHR) has the integrated tank but appears to be larger than the M42 radiator. Thanks for any info.....

My m42 tank works fine, and I know a few others haven't had issues at all w/ m50 and s50's and such.

Well ive got a used m42 rad, 87C thermostat, no clutch fan, and a 14 inch electric cooling fan. I only use the cooling fan if the car isnt moving or im driving real slow. I stay steady at 1/2 way on the gauge. Every now and then it will creep just slighty past half way, but thats only if it sits still for awhile. I dont know if the e34 radiator will work. someone would have to measure them. With the end tank, the m42 radiator is about as long as an m20.

        The E34 radiator doesn't fit, I tried.

I am using the M42 radiator with my S50 and it's fine.

Do you guys with the M42 radiator run the motor driven fan? What combinations of fan's (engine driven fan plus stock aux fan, or after market electric fan, etc) temp of t-stat, a/c no a/c, and temps of your loctaion in the summer. I looked at the m42 radiator and thought it would provide inadequate cooling in the summer.

I have a stock 89 325i radiator with my S52 no a/c 80c T-stat no motor driven fan just stock aux fan with a lower temp aux fan switch 80c low speed 88c high speed. Car gets hot in the summer mouths around 100*f in the bay area summers, but never more then half way mark.

Thanks guys - I'm glad to hear that you're all using the M42 with no issues. I like the idea of being able to use the smaller/lighter M42 set up. I'll go with this and the 14" SPAL puller fan.

I use the m42 radiator and stock electric cooling fan and have no problems. I've tracked the car 2 times and it has run very cool as well. I'll stay with the setup until I have a problem, then probably switch out to a larger radiator and remote tank.
