    Euro S50B30 knocking

    Hi!
    My S50B30 started to knock a while ago. The car has been placed in a garage since then, but I have now taken it out again to do some work.
    My first guess was a kocking rod / rod bearing, but a few other people said that it might be the valvetrain, a loose camgear or something like that.

    I have a small video (Quicktime needed), that shows the knocking.
    Right click and Save As....

      Haven't watched the vid (no sound at work) but i'd recommend checking the vanos, especially the filters.

          That's quite a racket! Sounds like a rattle coming from the valvetrain like you said, but I guess a little poking and prodding is in order. Sorry to hear about your problems, and I wish you luck sorting the sound out.

          Smoodiver, it sounds more like rattling and not knocking.

              Can't watch the vid at work but a friend of mine's S38B38 started knocking and it turned out to be a spun main...

              EDIT: If it's more like a high frequency rattle from the head, maybe it's a broken shim bucket... did you check the shims?
