    M50 and getrag 240 ?'s

    I have a M50 pre vanos (1992) and a Getrag 240 (91 318i)

now I know the getrag 240 lines up right but which clutch, flywheel, and driveshaft should i use?

also I have a 84 318i manual which i think is a 3.64 but I am unsure and which one to use for the swap as i did search and most information is for the getrag 260 or E36 tranny. I have seen a few people using the 240 but was wondering if amy are using the stock 84 318i rearend.. thanks

sorry for the nub questions but i have only had the car 1 week or so. lol

ok i found this thread that answers the driveshaft (E36 325i) clutch/flywheel (M20)

will my stock 84 318i m10 rear diff still work for now? thanks

You can actually use the flywheel and clutch from the M42 318 ..although it wont be desireable .
You'd be better off with the M20 flywheel , clutch and starter ...then couple that with the E30 M20 shift support and linkage and use the E36 325 driveshaft with a E30 center support bearing installed .
The 240 trans will use the E30 trans brace/crossmember .

You can also use your early 318 3.46 diff ...but youd really be better off using the bigger E30 diff from an M20 car .
      Ideally you'd want a 3.73 or maybe even the 4.10 ratio .

the 318i clutch and rear end won't hold up, and the dual mass flywheel will be disappointing. I know because I went that route and it is a bitch pulling the transmission to replace the clutch and flywheel.

that is perfect, if you want to keep a 4.10 you can always get one out of a auto 325is or an m3. I tihnk there are some others to.
