Running without the above and just an open head is where you run the risk of burning valves .

How come? Don't most aircraft, esp the WWII V12s, basically run open head exhaust?

Is this bad for the motor to run with no back pressure?

I wanted to finish installing the cooling system on the car and want to get the car to running temp so I can bleed the system, but nervous about running with just open headers.

anyone?
