    S52 rear main seal

I may have a leak. I cant remember what the back of my engine looked like. Do I remember seeing a cover bolted in place there or is this just wishful thinking?

    Thanks.

The seal is mounted in a cast aluminum cover on the back of the motor, behind the flywheel.

...i think he's thinking that its an easily accesible thing ~ back plate.

Nop...you gotta take the transmission off, clutch and flywheel THEN you have access to this "back plate" where the seal is.

          how bad is the leak?!

Don't sweat it , you can replace it when you pull the motor for the HG job . :p
