About two months ago I replaced my intake air temp sensor. Afterwards I saw a great increase in power until today when my check engine started fluttering on and off. Sure enough it turned out to be the air intake temperature sensor again. I pulled it out and found a small amount of oil on it which I cleaned off and reinstalled the sensor. The check engine turned off for about 5 minutes and then came back on with the same code. Can oil have that large of an effect on these? I would guess that all intake manifolds have some oil in them. The sensor is a BMW unit not a knock off.
