    Help me choose an intake

I have a heatshield that I'm planning on using, along with the stock hfm (3"). I have enough room to accommodate a filter up to ~8" long. What is the optimum size for a cone filter? :?

Doesn't really matter. Get something that fits well and looks right. ITG is probably best, K&N (or any other oiled gauze) is probably worst, although thats what most people end up with...

I wish I could fit a stock e36 airbox in there... maybe if I get rid of the ABS...

Do you know of anyone locally that sells ITG?

i don't see how itg would be that much more effective than a K&N, K&N's numbers are proven to increase flow on every application, and the difference b/t the itg and K&N can't be worth the extra $45 that turner charges for that filter over a K&N

AEM dryflow? benefits of a cone, but no oiling and no foam to disintegrate

It is from their website, so it is going to have a spin in their direction. That being said, personal experience with the ITG filters on both Porsche and BMW engines, I agree with their research. The cleaning cycles for the ITG filters are much longer as opposed to the K&N's.

Another reason for the difference in cost is that they are made in Europe and the exchange rate sucks!

i got a k&n filter. 3" inlet. 1.75" inlet flange length (centered). 6"round at flange/4"round at tip (tapered filter). 6" long. no reason to pay twice as much for an ITG
                  No more e30s for me.

this is what i have going on my s50. its like a gigantic vaccum cleaner heppa filter. works damn well on my buddys 400hp audi, figure it will serve its purpose on the e30.

The Dryflow looks nice. Should I get the one from an E46 or rig something up from a Civic because Honda parts might be cheaper. Or can I buy just the cone from them?
