Need help on coolant temp sensor...

Got an S52 engine converted to OBD I. I tapped the head for the coolant temp sensor, just don’t know which one to buy. I heard you need to use the e-30 temp sensor, but it only has one pole. Does anyone have the correct part number? Thanks!

    Use the E30 sensor.

Thanks Mike, Is there a specific one? The one I’m looking at is a single pole. The plug on the E36 wiring harness is for double pole. Am I missing something?

Yes. The coolant gauge on the dash has one pin in the e30 chassis side connection. Make sure whichever pin is coming out of the sensor hooks through the e36 harness and into that wire. The other one is unused. Remember... this ain't an e36 any more.

You only use the signal wire, not the ground wire. The E30 sensor is grounded through the body of the sensor.
