    Check engine light

Got the car running, but check engine light comes on when you hit the gas, but when you let off it goes away. Haven't attached the abs wire yet, but figured I would attach it later. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

THis'll be very vague, but I think that ABS controller takes a PWM (pulse-width modulated) signal from the Engine controller. Just check, do you know what system it is? Don't know what it does (yet), but this caused problems for a friend running aftermarket engine management in a Porsche 993 (similar Bosch systems).
That should be about the only comm between engine and ABS controllers. There are certain things ABS monitors, depending on what system (E30 is old so Im not that sure), but engine revs and loading are measured as they effect wheel response. This may interfere. (Maybe)

      It's not the ABS.

Do you get a hesitation from the car when you do this? What codes are you throwing? You're kind of being a little vague.

Sorry, I'm on the other side of the state from the car, my dad drove it back from exhaust shop for me and was curious what I should start looking for. I'll have him check the codes tonight and ask about hesitation.
          Thanks

Just talked to my dad, he said it didn't have any hesitation, but when he let off the gas and put the clutch in the light would come on. He said he might be able to do the code reader tonight, but just curious if anyone had any ideas or experience off the top of their head.
