Oil cooler to E30 M50?

    Nah. I managed to find an S52 oil filter housing from an MZ3. It has the same casing as the Euro S50 / S54, just without the tapped ports and no thermostat. What I did was drill out the ports, tap with 3/8 NPT (I believe, definitely wasn't 1/2 NPT), and made a plate to block off oil flow so that the oil would go through the cooler (act like a stuck open thermostat) and had that welded up.

      All stock e30 m325i/325i/m3s here in NZ got the same oil cooler factory :) lucky i guess. ive adapted mine for the V8 conversion as factory these V8s had oilcoolers to. Works a treat

        I hope to make it to the track ocassionally where I have seen oil temps reach 140 deg C. In any case ambient temps can be over 40 deg C in lunchtime traffic where I am.

          I know, reviving an old thread... my seach skills actually work.

          Does anyone know if these aeroquip A/C hose ends will fit the stock M20 oil cooler?
