?'s on what i need from a e34 for m50 swap

hopefully im going to pick up my non vanos m50 on sunday. can anyone help me out really quick and tell me what i will need from a e34 car? im planning on getting the long block and harness. do i need the ecu if im going to be running something like mega squirt? thx

you need the ecu no matter what. the wiring harness and the motor with all the accessories is all you need. alternator, ps pump, exhaust manifolds, fuel pump,etc. get as much as you can.

im pretty sure the megasquirt attaches to a couple wires. i dont think it replaces your ecu. i could be wrong tho. i never delt with megasquirt.

lol. im only a noob to this forum. i have just never delt with megasqurt or even really looked into it. i got my vanos m50 from a 95 e34 525i. so i had to get all the stuff i mentioned.

or instead of posting so much, you can read the multi page thread on the parts you will need? its what everyone else does!

megasquirt replaces your ECU. It's a full standalone system.

That being said, I'd get the e34 ecu to get the car running and make sure everything is proper before switching to MS
