OK I've got a 4.10 diff, and I want to stick with that, so I'll stick with the E30 trans. I'll probably buy used e28 mounts because I want to modify them to set the engine lower.

oh my god................ please dont use old mounts, they are cheap!
and personally, i wouldnt use a 4.10. im using a 3.73 and i think its a perfect rear end for the e30 tranny. please just search and read. i read that DOHC sticky thread about 4 times. my build thread has alot of questions that were answered.

I'm going to get teh M/S installed on the M20 this summer and get used to working with it, before installing either a turbo or M50/52

I realize some stuff I'm gonna post along the way will seem rediculas to you guys....4.10 will be perfect......
With that said I've heard of non vanos 2.5 M50's revving to 7500. So I'm thinking that eventually when it truely becomes an autox beast I may even go to a lower gear if available. Maybe 4.47? And hopefully rev the engine a little higher and it not explode to bits.
They only reason for using old mounts would be to get the engine in place, to make sure everything is OK, then pull the mounts and have either aluminum, (not likely) or delrin or stiff poly mounts made.....To get the engine as low as possible.sigpic

read 24v thread. tis too much man. why the extra work?!
4.47...from where?! + your third gear will do like 60mph and your car top out at like 100mph...i have a 3.25 and think the gearing is real short. this nigga outNo more e30s for me.

I would be using a 25.5" tall rear tire. And revving to at least 7500.
I've been reading it......Seems a little more strait forward now.
Why not the extra work. It would be a winter time project anyhow. So may as well take the time to do it right. Plus it's an autox car, not just for cruisin' around on the street.sigpic

OK then I'll defer again to the Edgemotorwerks autox car.
For the record this isn't going to be a street car it'll be an autox car.
You are right I probably am making it harder than it is. And to get the car running I will probably just throw it together like others have done..........but that won't be good enough in the end.sigpic
