Tranny swap question.

    Tranny swap question.

    Ok Im sure this has been beat to death, but I want to be 100% sure before I go spending lots of cash.
    I have a M50 from a 95 525i that I will be swapping into my 91 318is.
    Now I want to use the 240 tranny but my question was can I use the M20 single mass flywheel and clutch in the 240?
    When using this clutch I need to use the M20 starter correct?
    Do I have to use the euro 323 TOB? part number 21 51 1 204 525.
    I can use the e30 or e36 5 speed drive shaft.
    I should use the 318 pilot bearing also since Im using the 240 tranny?
    Also I can use the stock tranny brace and mounts?

    Do I need to change ANYTHING else or am I ok with this set-up??

      im doing the same thing and have asked the same questions..
      getrag 240
      m20 flywheel & clutch disk
      m20 starter
      323i TO bearing
      e30 tranny mounts
      e36 manual driveshaft ONLY (e30 driveshaft is too long)
      e30 center support bearing
      getrag 260 shift linkage (240 linkage is too long)
      pilot bearing - whichever works, should be m42 but m20 may work as well.
      m42 radiator works but is pretty small, m20 radiator is perfect
      you need a bigger rear end. small case will blow quickly.

          So then that will all work fine with no issues?

              is the e36 318 5 speed shaft the same one??

                  Real OEM has different part numbers, so i believe they are different. My guess is the 325 one is heavier duty and the transmissions are a different length since they had seperate ones in the 318's and 325's. Not positive though since I've never checked the lengths on both.
