    shifter to far up??

ok Im running the M42 tranny and I have the 260 shift linkage and all that good shit.
I noticed that the shifter sits towards the front of the car about 1/2 inch or so. maybe less.
    anyone else have this issue??

The one from the 260, all the shifting parts are from the 260.

i have never used the 318is trans with the conversion. however, there are a lot of levers / carriers that can be used....with mixed results. so is it the lever that sits too far forward, or is it the carrier?

        cheers, jason

its the shifter its self that sits to far up.

Your talking about too far forward right? There are two different selector rod sizes for the g260 that I have found. If you go to the dealer you will only find the longer one. My car came with a shorter one and it broke, so I got one at the dealer and it was too long causing my shifter to hit the console in 1st, 3rd and 5th.. I have not been able to find the correct size, but I think if I changed carriers it would be fine.
