flat spot and tiaking noise on M50 w/ s50 cams

I am running a Turner chip.

I just got the vanos replaced by a shop and when I pick it up, the problem seemed worst. The marble sound at idle has been fixed, but there is a flat spot at around 3k rpm and then on, the vanos makes a ticking noise all the way through the rpm range. It sucks when your doing 65mph in 5th gear on the highway.

I brought it back for him to fix, but I want to know what you guys thought.

Probably timed it wrong. Hopefully no damage was done to the valves.
