    Repainting M50 intake manifold?

My M50 intake manifold is looking kinda shabby...it will probably look even more so next to the new engine and fuel rail covers I've ordered. So does anyone know the best paint and shade of black (matt/satin/gloss etc - probably not gloss) to use on the manifold to best match the engine cover?

    Cheers!

as for color, i would use duplicolor high temp engine paint-low gloss black. however, i dont know if it will stick to plastic very well, so you mite wanna start looking into a good high temp plastic paint...

I think I used the duplicolor semi-gloss high temp paint and it turned out pretty well.

It looked pretty good to me. It's not completely flat and there's just a little bit of sheen but I thought it looked great. I'm out of town right now, but when I get home a take a couple of pics.

From my experience, dupli-color high temp (1200F) paint is too mechanically fragile if not baked properly (i.e not stuck in the over at around 300-400F for 1/2 to 1hr). I've used it on a well prepped aluminum part, and after the paint dried up, i could easily scratch paint off with my fingernail. After i baked the part for about an hour and it cooled off, i could not scratch it with a finger nail anymore but still could with a sharp metal edge. Those were my results on mechanical toughness of duplicolor hitemp.
I've also recently used VHT 1500F paint on exh manifolds and even after baking it, the paint isn't very tough and scratches off relatively easily.

One paint i would try tho is VHT plastic paint: they say it's designed to be scratch resistant and also resistant to the high in-cabin temps (like when car sits on the hot sun for a long time). I called VHT and the lady told me they could not recommend using this paint under the hood, but who really knows.

Here are the pics. It's a little dusty but the paint doesn't show any signs of peeling or anything like that.
