    Instrument cluster smoking

I need your help guys with a little wiring issue. I suspected my 325i cluster was bad because it was displaying the service lights with the ignition off and I can't get my code reader to power on. So for giggles today I plugged in my old 325es cluster to see if it'd work.

The large white plug that connects on the right (as shown in the picture) actually started to smoke! So my suspicions were correct that somethin' ain't right.

From what I've found searching on the board, my wiring adapter is wired correctly. The only thing I have some doubts on is wiring to the instrument cluster. The black wire from my E30 connector I wired to the rectangular plug shown below, and the yellow wire I wired to the little plug (speed reference) that goes into the green connection on the back of the cluster.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks guys
    -Brandon
