Selector rod rubbing on m3 driveshaft?

everytime i push down on the shifter the selector rod rubs on the driveshaft.. does anyone else have this problem? It only does it if i tap the shiftknob down, but it's still too close for my likings.

    Advice?

    -Abe.

It's your shift lever. What lever are you using, something out of a Z3/4 probably? Mine does the same thing and I've been thinking about throwing a bolt up through the aluminum shifter carrier to keep it up and stiffen things but until I get some quality time with my lift when there aren't paying customers to take car of I'll live with it. If it's not hitting all the time I wouldn't worry about it too much.

abe what setup do you have for the linkage, thats another issue im sorting out, i tryed the e30 bavauto kit, not even close like 2 inchs too long, im trying an e36 318 carrier, should be the same as m3.

also, do you have the driveshaft from the 328/m3 with the part number ending in 813?

          see that's the thing, i don't have a SSK? It's a zf e36 m3 tranny and selector rod with the stock 97 m3 driveshaft.

The driveshaft has a bulge in it, and the way the shifter carrier sits the bottom of the lever will hit if you push down. Try bending the tabs that hold the front of that rear bushing upwards, this gained me enough clearance that it only hits if I really slam it into 4th or push down on the top of the knob. Granted I do have a longer lever than stock, Z3 2.5 I think?

Check your trans mounts and your shift carrier bushing on the chassis.

Mine did that too, the tech at the stealer noticed it when I was having them flush the trans (I didn't drive the car until they were done) I had him just flip it up side down and it worked fine.

What did you have flipped upside down, the selector rod?
