    M50tu Question

    I found a bottom end of an M50tu for cheap around me, guy says its all legit, I will check it out of course before I buy it, but I have a question regarding it.
    Is the M50 and the M50tu the same bottom end? Meaning is the only difference between the two in the intake and heads to accomidate the VANOS system? Would I be able to use the M50tu bottom end in a non vanos swap?
    Any help is appreciated.

      If your going to answer a question @ least let him know that the rods are different. ^_^ j.k.

      m50nv has bigger rods and they say and a bit lower compresession.

      But yes you could use the bottom end with a non vanos head.

          M50TU == 11:1 CR IIRC
          M50NV == 10.5:1 CR

          and NV rods are thick mother F@#$s. Otherwise, same bore and stroke. Are the pistons the same?

          Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

            Nv = 10.0:1
            Tu = 10.5:1

            edit: Pistons are different. NV wrist pin is 5mm lower (meaning taller piston) than the TU.
