    m52 swap questions?

Ok I know the trans angle is gonna be off. anybody have any pics of what they have done to correct that? Also how hard is it to keep it obd2? Im in California and I think I have to keep it the way it came out of the doner car to pass smog.

bit of reading is your friend. there are 3 common solutions to the trans angle if you are using the 260.

A lot of CA guys went to obd1.

You either have to get the dme "fixed" to get rid of EWS or have the key, dme and ews computer from the same car, along with a ring antenna and run a two key setup. There's a thread on here about that kind of setup.

I'm going with option 1( Along with air pump delete, and rear 02 delete). Thats the main hurdle with OBD2. The rest is not more complicated then any obd1 swap.
But I am in the process so my opinion might change.

OBD1 conversion to me seems expensive, and I don't get why people don't stay with OBD2 nowadays since OBD2 is no big mystery anymore (check bimmerforums).

Stay OBD2. Get OBD1 manifold and your set.

If you want to run OBD2 cool do it, but you can either run it and order you EWS delete chip, or put that $$ toward an obd1 harness+ parts etc.
I think it's dougic that makes the bracket you will need. Not a bad price for a bolt in piece that has been used by the R3V masses.
Have you thought at all about all the other shit you are going to have to do?
            Make a list, srsly.

Are you referring to the getrag 260 rolling approximately 10o towards the passenger side of the car when mounted up to the M5x engines?

yeah, that's what he's talking about. he was asking questions on bimmerforums and was redirected to r3v.

You can't just get a chip for the dme, you have to send it to the tuner to get it reflashed. Just so you know but since your getting all the parts from the same car i'd say save the 200$ to get the dme reflashed and just run it with ews (and actually use the safety feature it gives you). OBD1 conversion isnt cheap, so depending on what your long term plans are it depends which route you should go.
