almost there, a couple more questions...

Just posting the answers to my questions in here just in case someone else stumbles on this thread and has the same questions. Thanks everyone

So Heres what i have so far....

    M50Tu from 95 325is (100k miles)
Getrag trans from same car (rebuilt)
e30 getrag driveshaft From Racers market...(was told it will let me use the e36 getrag)

    Questions...

    1) With an e36 getrag (i dont know what number it is? 240/260???) will my 3.73 lsd rear diff have the same ratios as my e30 getrag? Im hoping i'll have the same ratio and wont have to replace the diff.

    2) Also... Do i need a special trans mount for the e36 getrag to e30 chassis? Or is that a direct bolt on? I contacted dougsic to see if he can make me a brace.

3)I know its been beaten to death on here... but If i use e34 m5 motor mounts then i dont have to use spacers? I want a good street car with little to no vibration so im thinking OEM rubber mounts. Someone correct me if im wrong. And for the tranny mounts I need e21? anyone have a good source where i can just order this stuff... link? Decided after talking to a few people and finding a helpful post to go with the green or black e28 5 series hexagonal mounts. and e21 rubber mounts with aluminium cups.

Heres a helpful link to motor mounts....
    http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...m5+motor+mount
    4) Finally... where are these elusive metal engine mounting brackets i keep hearing about? Im not finding them. I need to mount my e36 getrag and m50tu... it seems like it would be the easiest part of this whole mess but its sadly the only thing i havent been able to figure out. The engine mount arms are from any e36 3 series with a 2.5 liter motor. Thanks matt

    1. Not sure what you mean? Are you asking if the tranny has the same ratio getrag 250 vs 260?
    2. Stock mount with e21 320i mounts
    3. I still ended using a spacer on the drivers side using m5 mounts, and as stated above e21 mounts. I get most of my stuff from www.bavauto.com .
    4. Are you talking about the engine mounting arms? You can get those throught bavauto also.

evan -- you can use any online supplier like pelican parts or whereever to order this stuff from.

      1. Different ratios, get a new diff. Try what you have first and then you'll see, you need to change it out.
      2. Stock e30 325 tranny brace, e21 mounts
      3. e28 m5 motor mounts, the green ones, they are rubber! You may or may not need spacers, everyone has a slightly different setup. Spacers are just nice thick hardened washers, no big deal. It will be obvious when it's in if you need them or not.
      4. Any internet junkyard should have e36 engine mounting arms. Call and buy them.

This stuff gets covered almost every month in this forum, search a little and you'll know for sure. It's time you start doing the work and it will all be more clear to you.

      Good luck

Thanks, I know it gets covered alot in the forum but it seems like everyone has thier own take on different mounts ect... and so much information flys around about diffs and transmission that it gets very confusing plus i searched all this stuff and didnt see anyone talk about the e36 getrag. Anyway thanks. Im sick of buying parts i dont need so i want to make sure its clear first.

you're going to get the same difference of opinion by starting a new thread as you are searching the old ones. You know mine works, you've seen it, ridden in it. Just come over and look at the parts and order what you need, done deal!

Bring some paper so you can take notes

On second thought...come to the car show tomorrow, see my car, and get all the info you need there.

            Hey Evan,

I have a set of the e36 mount arms I can throw in your big ass box of parts... no charge. I thought you were asking about the rubber mounts, which I dont have. But I have a crapload of the metal arms.
