    Don't ponder...

Pick up the bracket from Pelican or any other online vendor and mount it on the arm (part # can be found at realoem.com). The solution is ready made from BMW and works great. No sense re-inventing the wheel.

No place has them without special ordering. Thatll take minimum 2 weeks with shipping. I might just go to home despot and fab a bracket.

      Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Mine's mounted on the airbox mount for now, but has to move to make room for the E32 airbox on its way. It will be nestled comfortably behind the headlights. Easy to access and looks tidy.
To do this you can keep the E30 res, but will have to extend the lines a bit and modify the mount, no biggie considering the 24 valves its sitting next to ;) I had to run custom lines to the E36 pump anyway.

The original pump? I think mine's next to MR 325's res...
Get/keep the pump from the M5x, the output line is threaded and the feed is a press fit. With a few adapters and a little braising, both can be easily adapted to the E30 rack hoses. Unfortunately it messes with the assist a bit, I'm running a late E30 rack and its way too light for my liking. All the more reason to do the E36 rack. It is crying for a quicker ratio!

My stock E30 PS lines fit perfectly fine in the M50 PS pump. *shrugs*

i think you missed my other post. im wondering what people who are not running power steering did with their pump. did they just leave the pump completely open, or did they loop it with the res or a line. i dont want power steering and my rack is already blocked off, but i want to preserve the pump in case i do decide to put it back on.

oooh if you measure it, you can just buy a belt thats shorter. Thats what all the V8 buddies of mine did. How you measure it, I do not know. I wouldn't leave the PS pump on there... it kinda negates the gains you make from losing it.

Yeah behind the headlights is tidy...but I have an ABS pump and cruise control actuator filling that spot. Shouldn't be too hard to find somwhere though (BTW...car is dangerously close to being started for the first time!)

hmm i shouldve thought of that myself. damn, just bought a brand new oem belt too! i didnt delete the ps for gains, i just like how the car handles without it. power gains is an additional benefit. i think ill try that out

I think its time to admit, mine is unofficially running...
                          Mwahahaa!

Last weekend I was back in Syd giving it a thorough "reliability run". The gods graced me with a good mix of wet and dry roads too :nice:
                          The thing is absolutely ballistic!
Balance is beautiful, the ally block was worth it.
I'll have it down in Melb in a few weeks, it needs an airbox and have sorted some motorsports connectors for the wiring (which is still a mess), I also want to do corner weights when I can (at work), and then make a big post.
If only I had the stroker crank...
                          You will love it:)))

Nice work! The car started on Monday...should be taking it for its first drive on the weekend. Though, with the aftermarket injection it isn't really going to be an instant thrill....still is exciting though.
