Euro S50B32 in E30 M3, Oil Pan and Pickup Help

I've been doing a lot of reading on the approach for oil pan, pickup, etc but most of the posts are focused around the US motors/swaps. We did a test fit of the e34 pan on the S50B32 yesterday and ran into some clearance issues with the baffle that is built into the e34 pan. The oil pump was making contact with it in a few spots.

Those of you running the euro motor, did you completely remove the baffle or trim around the oil pump?

Also, what do you do with the oil pickup? We ordered the recommended e34 pickup but its really not even close to being able to fit for the euro motor. I figure its a US motor only combination...

Thanks for any help and advice.

I am using the e34 oil pump, pickup, and oilpan. I left the e34 baffle in the oilpan.

I removed the baffle for the same reason you are experiencing. Oil pump was the regular M5x pump. I forget which pickup tube I used.

Doesn't the Euro S52 still have the oil pump in the rear of the engine? You have to put the oil pump in the front of the engine like in the E34 one. If it's already in the front, I didn't post anything...

        Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

I had the same problem with my pan on the S52. I think the early pans have different trays. I had to enlarge the cutouts for the oil returns:

No such thing as a Euro S52...The pump is still in the front, but the main pickup is in the rear.

Finally I found someone with same issues! ;)
But s50b32 has a dual pickup oil pump so I wouldn't like to change it to single pickup...
Original pick up(s) are sucking the oil from the front and back side of the engine, I was thinking to modify the e34 M50 oilpan so that I could utilize the dual pickup. But maybe I will do it first with M50 oil pump to get the engine running.
One option is also to make a shorter pickup to the original s50b32 pickup.

I had to modify the baffle a bit to fit it. I have pictures of the modification on flickr page.. https://www.flickr.com/photos/teroma...7604721877989/

PM Ian Haynes, I believe he changed to a single pickup and hasn't had a problem in over 6 years

We changed it over to the single pickup as recommended by others who have done this. Everything fit perfectly and the motor is in the car now. We're working on the electronics, hoping to start it up next week with a Sebring session coming up in October.

(We had to work through the usual issues...subframe, firewall, CAB, and swaybar clearance on the header, etc)

Oh, check out the clearance on the PWR 57mm radiator. "Tight" fit :D
