How do you get the oil dip stick tube in?

I've never actually had to put a dip stick tube in but my oil pan came with out one. I have the tube but it doesn't seem to fit in easily. I could smash it on but I would rather figure out what to do first.

    Anyone?

Bash it in with a wooden block. As you hammer make sure it stays aligned properly. Don't forget a new o-ring.

It slides right the crap in when you have the manifold off.

I don't think it's supposed to just slide in. I'm pretty sure it's designed to be pressure fit. That's what the instructions say and that's what my experience was.

they slide rite in, no pressure necessary. mine wouldnt go in easily in the beggining either, it was b/c there was an O-ring sitting in there sideways keeping me from making penetration. if you push that o-ring in there, yer gonna have to pull the oil pan, and thats no fun.

mine slides in and out pretty easily as well. I tried putting a block of wood on top and tapping it further down with a hammer but it won't go. It's definitely right where it should be and slides in and out easily. i need a bracket to keep it from wiggling around. And I am using the o-ring

I dunno, mine wasn't touching the manifold and it would only slide in on its own so far, and the o-ring was up by the groove, it was not in the way. Were you guys using used tubes or something? Well either way, I think point is that if it's not going in on its own, it's normal and just tap it with a block of wood or something. As I understand it, that groove on it is designed to pinch the o-ring against the pan, so it should be down that far. I just kept tapping until it made a less hollow sound upon impact.

It's supposed to bolt to the forward support brace of the intake manifold. But it doesn't reach the E36 version so you need to make a little extension. I did, no big deal. But after I did I realized that all you probably need is the support brace off an E34 and it'll bolt directly on...
