    anyone with a s50 swap in MI?

    I would like to see or ride or even drive a s50 e30 before I decide to do one to my 318is.

    Is anyone in Michigan. The closer the bay city the better but distance isn't a big deal

      90 325is, w S52/ZF

      Just south of fenton here, but she's still in the garage.

      Just looking for a 924 brake booster so I can take her out.

        I just picked up a e32 booster for $50 shipped....

        Now debating either a m50 or the s5x variant. I found a m50 from a 525 not all that far away for 1k with 90k...... what do you suggest....

          I did mine without ever even seeing one in person. I read an article in Roundel a couple years ago about Blunt's car and decided I wanted to do it. I had never heard of this swap until then. You wont be disappointed with the end product if you take your time and pay attention to the basics.

          My car is so fast that it literally scared me the first time I really got on it. 125 is absolutely effortless and you get there in a hurry (I'm running a 3.46 diff). I picked a fight with a badass old Pantera. I lost, but only because I chickened out when I found myself nudging 130 on I-10 here. Now I'm not saying I could have kept up with him, I just shit when I saw my speed.

          First and seconds gears are a joke if get heavy with your foot. Third gear just pulls and pulls and pulls!

          Sure there are plenty of faster cars out there. I wouldn't want to mess with those Mitsus and Subarus. I've heard that Neon SRTs are fast too (but they look like shit).

          The point of the swap I think, is to update a beautiful old car with a peppy motor. People who dont know anything about BMWs wont recognize what you've done under your hood. But I've opened my hood for Bimmer-heads before and they shit when the see the S52 in place of the old S14. It really fills up the compartment.

          I hope you find someone local so you can see, and get a ride in, a finished car. You'll really dig it.

            I just grabbed a 924 booster from a guy on 924.org for $50 shipped, I just missed a 924 that was being parted in Royal Oak last month. Oh well $50 isn't too bad.

            I can't say S or M, Is the extra 40~60hp with a S worth the extra $2~3K over a M50 in your eyes?

              I'm running an M52 with S52 cams, an E46 M3 6-speed and 3:46 LSD. The M52 with S52 cams is probably closer to the S50 in terms of output than an S52 is. Also, if you're thinking ZF tranny with a 3:46, then the first five gears of mine should be the same as your desired setup, since my ratios match (6th is an overdrive).

              Anyway, It's my daily driver :) I live & work in SE Michigan (NW Detroit suburbs). PM me if you'd like to go for a spin sometime.

                i picked up a m50 from a 525. Might add s50 cams, we will see.

                I am going with the 240 and a 3.73 diff
