Pulling m20... what to do with harness?

I started pulling my motor today... I got the exhaust out and driveshaft and started getting to the motor today. I removed pretty muh everything...

    coolant hoses,
    PS hoses,
    radiator,

lots of other junk, anyway im down to the point where i basically just have wiring running through the whole mess. Do i need to disconnect that individually or can i just pull it out of the firewall somehow? I think i have to install the new e36 harness anyway through the firewall. But when i was looking at the pass side firewall i couldnt see how you get the harness out of there.

I can envision keeping the fuse box as is and unplugging the c101 but all the other wiring im not sure on. I just want to get it out. How do you remove it?

Thanks alot, might be a stupid question for most but im just confused, thanks -Evan

You need to unplug the c101 and then pull the e30 harness through the firewall. Nothing has to be cut, everything should be unbolted for the harness and you'll be golden for the swap. To get the harness out of the firewall, takes a lot of patience, but mostly just break loose the rubber in the hole and then it should just pull through into the engine bay.

So it just pulls through? do i have to detach anything on the other side of the firewall before i can pull it through? I thought that the ECu was on the otherside somewhere. If so id have to disconnect that first before i could pull it through. Anyway im gonna give it a try this morning and i'll see what happens. Thanks -evan

The ecu is in the top of the glove box. You will need to unplug that before you pull the harness.

Got it thanks guys, one more question, is there a way to get off that nice rubber boot around the wiring harness and transfer it to the e36 harness? its really hard rubber and i dont think it will stretch around the harness plug but it looks really nice.
