They say there's only two seasons in Las Vegas; Summer and January. Which leads me to today's topic.
My S50 cabrio arrived in my driveway with a "Dinan" chip of unknown lineage. The engine detonates at low/mid-revs using 91-octane gas, especially at 115F ambient, which it is in Las Vegas a lot. Backing off the throttle stops the detonation, but obviously it's not much fun.
Engine is stock except for (according to PO) polished heads and a lightweight flywheel. Stock exhaust manifolds.
So I'm looking for another chip. For an M20, I'd get a Mark D, but I haven't heard anything about his S50 chips. "The Racer's Market" that posts here can set up a chip for 6500 redline (good for me - I want to drive the car for many years) and lightweight flywheel. Bone-stock OEM chip is also tempting.
Can some folks weigh in on their experience with this, especially 91-octane users?
Thanks!
