oil questions

hello all,

i tried a couple searches to find this information, but couldn't.

i recently bought a car with an S52 swap and am going to change the oil. i understand that the oil pan is from an e34 and so i was wondering if the required amount of oil is the same or different, and what the proper amount is (so i know how much to buy). also while i am at it, what weight of oil are most of you using?

6 quarts.

I use Shell Rotella Synthetic 5w-40.

If you plan on doing motorsports, though, fill it up to 7 quarts.
