Pay to get the S50 swap done?

    How much would it cost?
I searched and all i found was the price if you do the swap yourself.
If i give a shop all the parts they need to do the swap.
Am i looking at around 6k plus labor?

Or should i do the swap myself?
Im very mechanically inclined, and have put my share of engines in hot rods. Im assuming this will be much more difficult.
What do you guys think i should do?

If you really searched you wouldve realized it really isnt that difficult if you have all the correct parts.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

With a 1989 325is the swap is easiest IMO.

Labor often runs around $2k for the swap.

-so worth it to do it yourself. That way, when (not if!) you have to work on it, you know where everything is...

I think plugging everything in is the easy part. Sourcing all the parts was hardest part for me.

EDIT: I haven't plugged everything in yet, I am just sitting on all the parts, lol.

I could do it for about $1,500, thats labor only.

              What about a time frame?
How long has it taken some of you guys to do the swap?
If im able to work on it everyday for an hour or 2.

This is my daily. If i dont drive this i have to drive a 600hp camaro(68) that gets 8 mpg in the city and like 12 mpg on the freeway. I drive like 30+ miles a day too, so that will get expensive fast.
I have read that it is not that difficult. Bmw engine bays are just a little more intimidating then the engine bays im used to. hahaha
Thanks for the vote of confidence though guys!
Im gonna start collecting parts after my next paycheck(2 weeks). So youll definetly be getting some more questions from me

I know the eurodepot charges 40 hours for a complete swap.

Once I had the parts, was really easy and definitely a weekend job. Took 6 months though since I didn't do all of the research thoroughly beforehand.

agreed. i could probably get it done in a weekend as well after doing it once, it also helps if you have a mechanically inclined friend to help. but like everyone else said, finding the parts is the most difficult part. save the cash and diy! or get some folks off here to help ya
