Can you bend the cast aluminum shift carrier without damaging it?

Hey man I noticed you have a 24v swapped E30 while using the Getrag 260?

Well I've been doing the m50 with my Getrag 260 into my e30.

I bent the selector rod 10 degrees but the shifter isn't centered at all, its still far to the passenger side and it won't even go into 5th gear. It seems to me the shifter housing linkage that pins up to the transmission is what's causing it to sit far to the right side.

Did you run into this issue??

    Thanks for your time

    Wade

What do you have to do the linkage to center it using a getrag 260?

Check Turner Motorsports, and you'll find your answer there.

G240 doesn't tilt the shifter. The M50 with the E36 arms sits the exact same as the M42 does.

I think you'll be taken seriously if you take a minute to edit the spelling/grammar in your post 'cuz its reely hard to rreed and prolly gives head akes.

Starter and flywheel need to be the same.

    This thread is amazing!
Now I have a M50B25 that I got a 260 for. The 10* offset doesn’t worry me as I’m in a well equipped shop. The problem is. I think I got a duel mass flywheel. Will that fit? I got a new clutch with a heavy duty pressure plate. Will I need a new flywheel? And I presume I use an old m20 starter with this right?

Ps. really sorry for the grammar issues. i was writing this in between classes and forgot to take the time to proof read.

You saved my life! Thanks man, I just grinded it down and now there's a couple mm of clearance between the pan and the flywheel. Excellent!

I don't get to post much because there are others that know alot and are on more frequently then i am. So they get to answer things

before i get a chance. I wouldn't call this reference for work i don't get to work on e30's much here in NC in jersey when i was a bmw

dealer tech there i did. But still it was only timing belts, valve adjustments, clutchs etc. nothing exciting. I will put my in when i

    can.

So you are using R3V as a reference in your work? If so, gotta love that!
