    brake booster

    Hello

Im almost done with my M50 swap, but this problem came up. It seems that my IX booster's diaphram is torn because its hissing and loosing vacuum, which affects the engine's idle.
Main thing is, Im looking for another ix booster and I cant find one ANYWHERE, new or used. So I ordered a 320i booster from my job, it looks almost the same to the stock 325i booster, i dont need to cut the rod or rethread it or anything, at this point im desperate as i need to leave to florida in two days and im hard pressed for cash. is there ANY possible way to use the booster I got ( which might be stock). I am willing to do what I have to do to get this done before I leave.

    Here are some comparasion pics:

Did you already uninstall the iX booster? You could just run manual brakes if you plug the manifold vac nipple.

That booster doesn't look like the E21 unit. If you have a little more time I'd return it and get a Porsche 944 booster. You still have to cut the 944 booster a little, and thread it down a little more, but it can definitely be done in an hour or two.

Im actually running manual brakes right now for the mean time , lol. Its alright but im afraid of having to suddenly stop one day, and not be able to stop quick enough. So you say that a 944 booster WILL work, it will bolt up to the firewall and the m/c will bolt up and all i have to do is cut a little of the shaft off?

          Actually, I love mine.
My dual master cylinder setup paired with my Brembos feels great at the track once they're warmed up.

i got a 320 booster, cut and welded the rod. I think i heated up the rod too much when i was welding because i have a nice hissing sound now. the car still stops perfectly so im not too worried about it, its just annoying

Do you recommend this for street use? Or is this strictly a track setup?

As long as the master cylinders are spec'd for your brake package there should be no issues using my setup on the street.
