Is crank pos sensor gap adjustable?

    Hey Gruppe,

I've been going over the basics in my swap and am finding that the crank position sensor is just a bit out of spec. Bentley's calls for a gap of .7 to 1.3 mm, and I am measuring about 1.35mm. Not far out, but out of spec none the less. The issue though, is that I don't see any way of adjusting that gap. The sensor mounts with the cap screw through the flange and does not seem to allow any type of adjustment at all. Am I missing something there or is gap adjustment accomplished via new sensor purchase?

    Thanks for any help.

it doesn't wear away, so a new sensor won't help likely. You can bend the bracket, but I'd leave it alone and see how it runs personally

+1 I wouldn't worry about the gap, but I wouldn't forget about it either. Just keep it in mind as you get the car started and look at it if the car won't start as one of the issues. But I wouldn't do anything about it yet.

That's the situation at the moment. I'm at the point of trying to start the M50 and am getting only some sputtering and backfire through the intake. Sensor resistance is Ok and I don't yet have an oscilloscope to do real test, so I've been checking everything else I can think of.

I think I'll dig back into the ETMs and back probe every questionable connection again. and again... and again. Sooner or later, the patron saint of 24v swaps will have to take pity on me and let her run.
