How many ohms should I have at the cam sensors' plug?

I got about 1238 ohms on my nicely running 92 525iT when I was comparing against my not so nicely running M50 swap. I think the values in the Bentley are correct for the cam sensor, not the crank sensor as listed. 540 +/- 10% seems right for the crank sensor.

Also, it's easier to check the cam and crank sensors from the ECU plug as that will also verify that the wiring between is intact. I think pins 16 and 44 are for the cam sensor and 67, 68 are the crank sensor pins.

how would one test the sensor this way? doesn't the sensor need power?

According to E34 AND E36 Bentley it shows the following, measure on pins 1 to 2.
