    Wideband..?

I'm sure this has been discussed a billionnnn times, but the thing is i'm a total newb in this compartment. I basically want to be able to find out what my air to fuel ratio is, and by doing that i know I need to be running a wideband with an 02 sensor, my question is what is the best and cheapest way to go, i don't want anything fancy or super expensive, but nothing really crappy.. I'm pretty budgeted atm so the cheaper the better, any recommendations? And does somebody care to explain this whole wideband and narrow band shit to me? Sorry for the newb question..

    -Abe.

NGK AFX is our preference. If you need logging, check out the Innovate LM2 (I have both, actually)

Wideband meters tell you your actual air fuel ratio, narrowband sensors only tell you if you're richer than stoich or leaner than stoich.

If you are looking from inexpensive build or buy a JAW.

It does use a lookup table so it will not be as fast as the others out there. I had an innovative when I had my turbo M10 and I had to return it 3 times before I finally had one that was reliable.

I do not have any WB now and have never used the JAW but if I would get one again I would go for that.

The LC1 is sort of a pain to use. I much prefer the AFX.

The LC-1 is great when it works. As I posted above I had to send it back 3 times. I had mine connected to MS as well as an apexi turbo timer for the display.

I know the LC-1 is pretty picky where the ground is so just make sure it is grounded at the same spot the ecu is grounded.

I had mine in a 2002 so maybe the updated e30 would be better for it.

I've got an LC-1 in my car...no complaints. We also have LC-1's on three other cars we work on without complaints...all running MSEFI though, so we aren't using the logging software the sensor comes with (so I can't comment on that).
