As long as the axles are in good shape, you don't need to swap them. They bolt right up to a medium case diff. You do, however, will need to swap differential output flanges and the rear diff cover if the 3.25 LSD is from an E28/E24/E23.

Is it true that no 318i models came with check panels from the factory? If so, that means the PO installed mine and I never asked. My last E30 was a 325i, so I just assumed that all of them had check panels.
            .

also true...I was able to use the 318is axles with my e30 m3 5-lug swap. I've also used diffs from mcoupe and e28 by swapping output flanges...takes about 1 minute to do that.

Also no Cruise...but it is easy to add. Less of a OBC (easy to add, if you care about it)

The wiring is a little different for the 318. not a big deal tho. You can also use the 318 rad with the m50 for a cleaner engine bay.

I have a m50 swapped 318iS and am very happy with it.
I've been trying to figure out what the difference is in the wiring, but haven't found it anywhere. Can you point me to something?

This might help. This is what I used. ABS goes to pin 3 on the x20.

were sunroofs an option on a 1991 e30 318is? Or was it standard?

my 91 318is has a hand cranked sunroof, power windows, power mirrors, no trunk tar, open diff, 5 speed (not optional) coupe, and one big plus to starting with a 318is is the tranny mount.... i know for a s5x swap you need to make a new mount... not in the 318is!

also - can these engine wiring harness adapters, such as the AKG one, be used with a 1991 318is?
