    Mystery Red Wire Question

OK, so I'm searching the forums to figure out where the mystery red wire goes. The same one mentioned in this thread here:

Now I read the responses over and over and I'm confused all to hell. I see reponses that say use the E30 power wire and some saying it's connected to their starter.

Can I just simply connect it to the big terminal on the starter and call it a day or should I remove the power cable(s?) and use the old power cable. From the reponses I couldn't tell if I had to go in and remove the power wires going to the alternator and replace them with my old E30 power wires or the ones going to the starter.

What the hell are my options and PLEASE detail your response. My head is spinning from the reading the responses in the thread above.

EDIT: Second question, do I still need to run a ground wire from my oil pan to the chasis?

cant realy tell from the pic but it could be the e36 main jumper wire from the main (+) battery to the fuse box you don't need it if you reuse the e30 power cable
or it could be the positive output from the alt.
looking for a e30m50 swap harness adapter pm me $150 shipped

i will try to keep it simple. Positive terminal (power block on passenger side fire wall) to starter and alternator. ive seen the harnesses in two different configurations. from terminal, split to both alternator and starter. or from terminal to starter, and jumper over to alternator. either way, positive terminal to both alternator and starter.

        cheers, jason
