There was a 310 (early) and a 320 (late) zf tranny i believe. -
Would you happen to know when each was available or what cars or years had what? And possibly any differences?

e36M3 until 9/97 - S5D 310Z
e36M3 from 9/97+ - S5D 320Z
e36 328 (all) - S5D 320Z
I found this on Bimmerforums:
"the 310 and 320 are identicle except for one gear is a hair different i can't remember whether it is 3rd or 4th and the differance is in the hundredths. off the top of my head i would like to say it is 4th gear and one of the trans' has 1.23 and the other 1.24. that's it."

The driveshafts you're looking for came in any manual e36 328 or M3 with a 4-bolt diff flange. You do NOT want a 6 bolt diff flange.Comment

Yeah, there should be a yellow sticker on the back of the driveshaft. The sticker has last 6 digits of the part number. A 328i driveshaft should be labeled 227 283.
