    Air Intake - stock look

I don't really want to get a cone filter because it will just be sucking hot air into the engine.

Has anyone attempted to use the stock airbox (expect for the 5 series one)?

I was thinking about using the M42 airbox but I think the diameter is smaller.

I read that some people are using the M20 airbox...does anyone have any pictures of how they set it up?

I want to have it looking as stock as possible :)

Walk through your local junkyard and look at all the cars to see what might fit.
I used a jaguar airbox on one swap and it turned out perfectly and looked factory. That particular car though didn't have ABS, so I had more room for the airbox.

here is what I did with my old M3. cut the bottom out of a M20 airbox to clear the ALT. and cut out for the HFM.

                DOPE.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a MAF need a straight length of tube before the sensor? I'm just asking because I would be concerned about it getting the correct kind of flow.

                Any effects from the setup?

the MAF attaches the same way it would on the E36. No problems at all

                      thank you.

I am in the middle of building another e30. I have a 91 318is that I am installing a OBDI S52 with all the usual accessories along with a e46 M3 6 speed. It should be close to complete by the end of this month.

More pics of the airbox? Looks like a clean set-up for ABS cars.
