Correct, obd2 and obd1 will give you the same amount of power gains, as long as you use an m50 manifold on both setups. When I did my motor swap i had all of the obd 2 parts, because it came from my wrecked m3, and i still decided to go obd 1, obd2 seems too confusing for my blood, obd1 was a bit too complicated for me as is, lol.. there are pros and cons for both, but i like obd 1 due to it being simple and being able to switch from chip to chip, un like obd2. My obd 1 swap didn't cost me much at all either, shop around and u can do the obd 1 swap for almost nothing.
