m50 swap

hey guys, im about to begin an m50 swap from a friend's wrecked e36. ive read probably every thread in this 24v swap section, as well as reading through the sticky a lot. i still wanted to start a thread because i know i have/will have lots of questions still. for starters... i wanted to put m3 cams in, but his is non-vanos so this wont work (right?). i know about the cam swapping that can be done with non-vanos heads, but i was wondering if a whole s50 head would go onto the m50 block and what other things would have to come with it if anything. then i get the m3 cams and the head flows better than the m50 i assume. any help is appreciated!

i was just asking for confirmation that what ive read in searches/browsing before is correct. this whole section is specifically for e30 dohc swaps, and is full of people with m5x/s5x motors in their cars, why would i go to bfc? i will update this thread with my progress ....thanks for the help guys :up:

BFc is mainly e36's which are where those motors came from. In short no you can't use the s50 cams on a nv head, and I don't think you can use the head either because the front of block is a bit different...
