Alright, well I am not sure if this is where I should post this question, but this is for those who have tracked their engine swapped e30's. I know most people use a E34 525 oil pump and pan, and I am wondering if anyone has any issues with running that set up on a track.
I have heard of people running into oil starvation issues with the s50/52 swaps with this set up, but I have never heard it from people with actual experience.
S54's have a semi dry sump oiling system and I also read that this was to solve oil starvation issues on previous generation M50 motors.
So my question now is I am in the process of doing this swap and I have a M50 pump with a E34 525i pan, what can I do to make sure I do not run into any issues? Does someone make a nice windage tray for these? Mine does have an OEM windage tray built in, is that going to be good enough to stop the oil from sloshing around too much?
I am also planning to rev the car to 8500, and this pump came off of a motor that obviously does not rev that high, will that be an issue? I know VAC sells and upgrade kit, and that will solve the oil gear from coming off, but does anyone make a higher flowing pump or one more suitable for higher RPMS?
What are you guys doing to help this out in your actual cars you track? I do not want to go drysump either, please keep that in mind.
Any help, or experienced advice would be great, Thanks!
