How the heck do you get the ring antenna off the igniton switch?

I have been stripping my donor 2000 m z3 for my e30 swap. as of now, i am planning to stick with the obd 2 parts since i have the entire car to pull parts out of. for those of you that have done the obd2 with ews conversion, can you please give me a pointer or 2 on how to get that ring antenna off the ignition? it is loose and will rotate, but i have tried everything short of breaking it off. the dash has been removed as well as the steering wheel and the plastic around the column.

If it were that simple, I don't think he'd be asking us. Ha.

your plan doesnt make sense. if you are going to have a 1 key setup, that means the e36 key will be in your e30 steering column. good luck. if you're going to have two keys, what are you going to do??

as the local obdII expert, do not take the ring antenna off the ignition switch. take the ignition switch off the e36 steering column and use the ignition switch to "hold" your key inside the ring antenna. you can then 'strap' this ignition tumber w/ ring antena anywhere you like. i want to move mine under the radio behind the 12vdc outlet such that i can start using the e36 key as an anti-theft device.

to remove the ignition tumbler, if you don't know search, or ask me i'd rather not type it now.

may the power be with youu

edit: you don't really need that wrenchy thingy..

edit2: just so you understand. the ring antena powers the chip inside the e36 key by induction and transmits an analog signal to the transmitter module which converts to an analog signal to the DME to disable the anti-theft. the key needs to be inside that ring for all this to happen. once it does you can take the key off and even turn the car off and you can restart it within 10-15secs w.o the key.
          No more e30s for me.

thank you all for your responses. etxxz: you have responded to one or two of my previous posts and your thoughts have always been very helpful. your wiring thread has so far been especially valuable. without that, i would have spent the extra money to buy all of the obd1 parts like most of the others. My e30 is a 91 with m42, so a couple of the wires are a bit different, but very useful none the less. I am in the process of drawing out the wiring diagrams now. it has taken me some time as i have been trying to learn the function of each wire rather than just blindly cutting into my harness.

your idea of removing the entire lock cylinder makes a lot more sense that what i had in mind. I think i am going to try to find an accessible but hidden location perhaps over by the glove box area.

seems like i remember reading somewhere down the line that you are in europe. too bad you are not closer to my area. i have 4 parts cars including the z, and a micro brewery in my garage. sure wish i could trade some parts and a few pints of beer for your expertise in the coming months.
