    Matt's M50 build thread.

Well, I've been working in the garage here and there and getting some things ready to put the m50 in. I still need to mount the flywheel/clutch/tranny, and possibly put in ARP 2000 studs and a SCE Titan head gasket, and it should be good to go. Here are a few pictures of the trial fitment, need to get some new fuel and coolant hoses as well. The new throttle cable is in, and I'm about to install the new brake booster (the pics below have the stock booster). New motor mounts are already on as well.

The engine is from a 1993 525i so it has the correct oil pan/pump... I just stripped all of my wiring out, and will probably have the old coil setup for sale.

I'm sticking with Megasquirt 1 -extra Hi-Res code with 6 coil ignitors for the COPs, and will probably run my Holset H1C and in the future I may run a Holset HE351VGT (the variable nozzle geometry turbo). Head flange is about done, and manifold will get done once I have everything in place.

Let me know what you think, for now it will be 7-8psi with the stock head gasket. In the future I'm thinking it will be a high boost monster with the Titan head gasket and head studs... Just waiting for the market and employment to turn around...

Any ideas for the oil cooler?

    See you guys around,

    Matt

    good to see you back

I know you can use the Euro Oil filter housing from the E36 M3 to run an oil cooler, because it has the built-in inlet/outlet. It's an expensive part though.

      Looks good Matt.

Most affordable solution for a cooler is IE's oil filter housing cap.
