Skipping visual on M50 swap for smog?

I need to get my swapped M50 past smog and until I get it straightened out a hell of a lot more, I definitely won't be passing inspection to make the swap legal. Instead, I want to just get it smogged by an 'incompetent' tester so that it'll automatically pass visual and either pass or automatically pass everything else as well.

For those of you who've swapped but not BAR inspected, where in the SoCal area did you go to to get it passed?

Most people cant tell the difference unless they know e30's or older BMW's for that matter.

Im not sure how it goes for CA though.

I think you live in a enhanced area, which means you are required to go to a test only station. Those guys know what they are looking at and I think you'll have a hard time getting it to pass. I tried doing what you're planning at a test only station in my area and they knew right away that it wasn't a stock engine. Plus, if they start the smog process and enter your information into the computer that is linked up with DMV they could flag your car because the smog test was stopped.

Is there a list somewhere for what is and what is not in an enhanced smog area? I assumed Arcadia was far enough from LA that I could avoid that. What about going to a smog check area outside of the enhanced area?

AAA told me I had to go to a check only place, if that's important somehow.

i got my swapped honda passed fine ..i have a crx hf...came with a 1.5 and i have a 98 b18 spaw...guy didnt notice at all

I also wonder about smoging a swapped car. What are the requirements in legalizing a swap?!

Test only? Got a location on that guy? How obvious was it that it was swapped?
I've got obviously aftermarket headers for example. Pretty obvious that something's up. And my O2 sensor won't be in the headers at all cuz it won't fit and has to be added farther back still.

check only is the same thing as test only. you're going to have a really hard time getting your car to pass the visual inspection

he just did the emissions took 10 mins, i didnt have headers at the time, but if you own a honda you could tell....but he prob couldnt, it was just a honda with another 4 clyn honda motor, hed prob notice if the title said its a 4 banger and had a 6, rednecks FTW
