S52 swap, DIY or send it out

So I am trying to get a feel for how many people on here did the swap them selves or sent the car out? Im planning a swap and am no doubt doing it myself but I have some helpful hook ups.

Did it with the help of my boss when I worked at a shop. Not hard as long as you source all the necessary parts, have access to an engine cherry, and can sauter some wires.

I agree with the above posts. My S52 went in with no clearance issues and buttoned up nicely with no problems. I actually think the engine fits better than the M20.

As long as you take the time to research what parts you will need and all of the little odds and ends involved you will be able to complete the swap no problem. There is a ton of information on this forum to help you out.

I installed in my auto shop at the time. On the lift with the engine/trans installed from underneath and did not have to remove the hood. M3 steering, E30 5lug and all mods on the rack.

This board is frequented by people who have done the swap themselves. If you have a shop do the swap, you wouldn't really need to read a 4 page thread on what brake booster works, right?

really not that hard of a swap-do it yourself and you'll really get to know your car even better from it's outer to inner workings.
you'll be proud to say i created this little beast myself...so do it yourself as we'll be here(r3v) to guide you along the way.
