I had the same problem with my ie mounts on the tranny. I just ended up getting the stock ones because I didnt feel safe with them not torqued down. The shaking gets really bad around 4500 ish right?

it will be interesting to see how those hold up. I've heard some not-so-great things about IE poly mounts, but who knows. hope you get that vibration issue sorted!

I installed my IE transmission mounts without any preloading procedure, and it didnt cause any issues. Good luck!

    houston.. we have a problem!!

well, i take it back, i could not daily drive them... just yet. something is wrong. after 2000rpm the whole car will start vibrating... maybe not as exagerated as i describe, but its not normal, even with the stiffer mounts.

I got under the car while someone accelerated (in neutral), engine mounts are cool, no vibration. I put my hand on the (hot) engine, i feel minimal vibration = normal. I touch the tranny under revs and OMG its shaking right to left pretty badly.

Someone please tell me what is wrong. I read somewhere about preloading the transmission mounts. I can't seem to not pre-load them unless i torque them too lightly.

suggestions GREATLY appreciated as i gotta drive about 600miles round trip this weekend to and back from a track event. Thanks

not as much as i thought really. i'm so used to my stiff suspension (450/550) this really didn't change much ex i like how solid my driveline got all of a sudden.

    ~$168shipped for all 4 though..

started a topic e28 'Green' Mounts - BITE ME!!

e28 'Green' Mounts - BITE ME!!

I broke them both in about 6 months and roughly 5000-6000miles... then again, those include a lotta track miles. maybe 4000 of those were street miles.

In any event, you can barely see from the picture, they are ripped almost all the way through on the sides. The fact that i can separate them by hand tell u something.

So, IE was nice enough to sell me some e28 'yellow' mounts :nice:
    [notice what the letter says]

sometime later in my bat cave

Took em around the block and i could actually daily drive them. They are not as stiff as i thought...yeah its dirty down there, you don't wanna see me now..
