i was wandering around running errands today and happened across a 95 325i vert sitting behind a repair shop. lightly wrecked in the front end. it is one of those deals where the car came in for repairs and the owner couldn't afford to pay. unfortunately, its an automatic trans, but the mechanic said he thought the engine had about 100,000 miles and a rebuilt head. i did not have the time today to check it out thoroughly, but he said he would start and run it before purchase. the good news is that he is only asking 750 for the engine and 600 if you take it out yourself. this including the wiring harness and dme. i assume it would be the grey label 413. i think the build date on the door was 11/94. looked like an obd1 manifold. this car probably would not be a good candidate if you wanted to purchase the entire vehicle. the shop owner said that he does not posess the title and the interior was pretty trashed. i was thinking that it would be cool to put it away and swap it into my ix one day, but hell. i am elbows to assholes with the projects i have going on these days. so, i have absolutely nothing to gain or lose by posting this thread. i thiought i would just put it out there in the event someone fairly local was looking for a cheap 24v.

$600 is a good street price for the engine ....especially if the head has been gone through.
All e36 325's were OBDI .....and it would be either a silver 413 or a red 413, the red can be used as is while the silver would need the chip replaced when used in an e30.
I say pick it up and keep it if you have the cash to spare ...plus you could always sell it for a small profit if you had to.

u know 24v swap into IX is not easy? I don't know if one has been finished or not but the front axle through the oil pan is a big problem. I know I read something about an e34 525ix oil pan making it possible but I dunno...definitely look into it before you buy the motor. Good/fair price, I'd want proof the head was gone through though, talk him down if no proof is available.
