    Clutch suggestions

I cost of the Sacsh 618 PP and sport disc seems pretty fucking outrageous. BavAuto has the sport disc/pp/to bearing for around $800 or so, which is a bit much.

S52 + M20 flywheel and getrag 260, any suggestions for a company to build a clutch or a kit to go with.

I also thought I read I can use the 24v flywheel and clutch on the Getrag 260 by using the E30 TO bearing, is that true?

I've always just stuck with the Sachs clutch's and pressure plate's. I've seen stock 228mm (<--iirc) M20 clutch discs hold 300+ horses, so I havent felt the need to upgrade much past that.

That said, with my S52/260 I'm using a UUC 240mm (24v flywheel) with a stock (24v) clutch, pressure plate, and t/o bearing. Again, to clarify, all of those components are M/S5x OEM components. I kept the E30 slave cylinder.

I dont know about using the M20 t/o bearing, but the M/S5x one definitely works.

I had no clearance issues ie. the flywheel didnt contact the bell housing.

^Really? I don't think in all the threads I've read, I've seen that combo used.

      Thanks for the info.

I noticed that a few of Golde30's posts a while back mentioned that he was running that setup, so I gave it a try. Works great. It isnt widely posted information though, I dont think a ton of people are using that combination. Or at least it hasnt been posted much.

        Cheers.

Hmmm, that has me tempted to try those ebay lightweight/clutch setups then. We have a few guys in our local group with E36s that have been running them with great success. As I'd love to have a lightweight flywheel and a new UUC setup isn't in the budget. I've already gone way over what I thought I would when I decided to go OBD-I S52 vs stock M50. lol

Yeah it's easy to blow a budget with an OBD-1 S52. I almost wish I'd just put a B25i motor in my eta and turbocharged it, but the S52 was taking up space at work after a customer dumped the idea of putting that in his Z3 in favor of an M54B30.

I got lucky and got my UUC setup brand new with the Sachs clutch, pressure plate, and t/o bearing for $600 or so.

I'd definitely go for one of the Ebay flywheels if I didnt come across the deal I did on the UUC part. I've been trying to talk a friend with a Mitsubishi into buying one of the Ebay flywheels for his car just so I can check it out. I dont see why anything would be wrong with them.

Also, there is some company that sells Exedy brand 6-puck clutches for a good price on Ebay. I want to say the one we looked up for the Mitsu was $180 with a pressure plate.

Sorry I'm the only guy up late enough to reply in this thread. Hope my input is helpful..

No prob, it definitely is. It's good to know as the E36 M3 clutch should plenty stout.

I didn't really want to run a "built" clutch setup with heavy/aggresive pedal feel that would still wear out quickly.

i run a ebay chromoly ltw fly with a stock e36M sachs clutch. it was probably the best way to go for my power needs and bc i drive the car on the street a lot.
